Daughter of the soil, an assertive young leader representing the hopes and aspirations of woman power, the whole of Odisha remembers Nandini Satpathy the ‘Iron Lady of Odisha’ and the lone female Chief Minister that the state has ever had on her 88th birth anniversary. In addition to her political prowess, she was also an exemplary literary figure, having won the ‘Sahitya Bharati Samman’ for hercontributions to Odia literature in 1998.
