Buddha Statue from Kendrapara
Dear editor, The news of Buddha statue from Kendrapara is indeed exciting. But you may consider correcting an error. The piece says that it belongs to eighth century B.C.. Buddha was not even born in that period. Incidentally, the other essay on Buddha by Mr Verma is full of errors. It does no credit to Orissan scholarship to claim that Buddha was born in Orissa. It diminishes the importance of Orissa history which has so much rich Buddhst heritage. Sincerely |
