This is giving the residents of Berhampur a tough time

Dear Editor

I am a resident of Berhampur (BAM) ,Orissa . I am seeing in the last 2/3 years the number of passengers traveling from Berhampur has multiplied by 5 times in number. But still the number of operation Reservation Counters still remain 2/3. This is giving the residents of Berhampur a tough time in booking the railways tickets. People have to stand in long queues and wait for long time to buy a ticket. I would appreciate, if the matter is seen into and the number of operational counter is increased to 6/7, then the people would be benefited and their crucial time would be saved. This would also fetch good name for Railways. The other option is also to open Reservation counter within the city. This would avoid long lines in the reservation counter near to the Railway station. Rather most of the people would prefer to buy the tickets from the city counter, thus ensuring the traffic moving towards the Railway station are realistic travelers, thus reducing the traffic menace. It would be really great if any of the option mentioned above is looked into and some action is taken care sooner than later. And also Berhampur being the business capital of the southern Orissa doesn't even have a single Inquiry machine in the Railway Station. This is forcing the people to go to the reservation counter and stand in the long queue of the Enquiry counter and have their PNR status/Train availability checked. So, if at least in the Railway platform, if there could be an arrangement to put forth 2/3 self-service kiosks, where people can check availability and check PNR status, then the people of Berhampur would be really grateful to Railways.
